Inca Gold
Leucadendron laureolum x salignum
Leucadendron Inca Gold is a spectacular evergreen Proteaceae hybrid celebrated for its vivid golden-yellow bracts, strong architectural form and exceptional winter garden colour. A hybrid of Leucadendron laureolum and Leucadendron salignum, this striking cultivar combines the intense seasonal colour of its parent species with vigorous growth and outstanding garden performance.
Highly regarded in both landscape design and the cut flower industry, Leucadendron Inca Gold produces masses of glowing tulip-shaped bracts from autumn through spring, creating brilliant contrast against its dense green foliage. The colourful stems and long-lasting foliage make it a favourite for floral arrangements, while its naturally rounded habit adds year-round structure to gardens and outdoor spaces.
Thriving in full sun and free-draining soil, Leucadendron Inca Gold is exceptionally well suited to Australian conditions, particularly coastal, Mediterranean and drought-tolerant gardens. Once established, it is hardy, low maintenance and tolerant of dry conditions, making it ideal for contemporary landscapes, feature planting, screening and large decorative pots.
This premium Leucadendron variety performs best in low-phosphorus, slightly acidic soils with good airflow and minimal fertiliser requirements. Regular pruning after flowering encourages dense branching, vibrant regrowth and improved flowering performance in future seasons. Like many Leucadendrons, Inca Gold also attracts nectar-feeding birds and beneficial pollinators to the garden during its flowering period.
Ideal for design-led native gardens, cut flower production and year-round colour, Leucadendron Inca Gold pairs beautifully with Proteas, Banksias, Leucospermums and other water-wise Australian plantings.
